Senior Engineering Manager, Data Platform

01Define and execute the long-term strategy for Calendly’s data platform and ecosystem
02Build a scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient platform that supports analytics, experimentation, operational reporting, machine learning, and AI use cases
03Drive modernization initiatives across data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, governance, observability, and serving layers
04Build internal platform capabilities that empower analysts, data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams
05Improve data discoverability, governance, lineage, and quality
06Drive adoption of self-service tooling and standardized workflows
07Recruit engineers and people leaders to expand both new and existing teams across the organization, with responsibility for all hires joining the squad
08Address challenges that accelerate progress for the entire engineering organization
09Guide, develop, and integrate new engineering team members
10Drive the professional growth, engagement, and performance of engineers on your team
11Guarantee the systems under your team's ownership are performing effectively, meeting service level commitments, and prepared to scale
12Anticipate upcoming technical requirements and develop strategies to address them
13Deliver feedback and direction to support our continuous growth and expansion

017+ years experience leading a data and analytics engineering teams
0210+ years of overall development - especially relating to Data Platforms and Products (SQL, Python, Java, Scala, or strongly typed languages preferred)
03Strong understanding of Data warehousing, Batch and streaming data pipelines, Data orchestration and workflow management, Data modeling and transformation frameworks, Metadata, lineage, and governance systems, Data observability and reliability practices
04Ability to balance technical excellence with business outcomes
05Strong systems thinking and prioritization skills
06Deep proficiency with data application development and building scalable architecture for enterprise grade data warehouses and streaming engines
07Ability to be a hands on contributor when need be with a focus on enablement
08Experience planning and leading development efforts on large projects
09Previous experience leading and mentoring teams and driving them toward big goals with consistent execution
10You are an excellent communicator who can succinctly explain deep technical concepts
11Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies
12Previous experience working within a balanced engineering and product team
