Responsibilities
- 01Lead a group of highly experienced engineers with a hands-on approach, spending roughly half the time on technical contribution and half on people management
- 02Work closely with the team to set technical direction, remove blockers, and foster a strong engineering culture
- 03Tackle complex systems challenges in distributed computing, large-scale data handling, and performance optimization
- 04Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable infrastructure solutions for AI workloads
- 05Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of Modal's infrastructure layer
- 06Mentor and develop engineering talent, helping team members grow and make sound technical decisions
Requirements
- 01At least 10 years of industry experience, including 3 years in a leadership role
- 02Experience building high-performance distributed systems at a large scale
- 03Strong background in cloud infrastructure
- 04Strong knowledge of low-level operating system foundations (Linux kernel, file systems, containers, etc.)
- 05Proficient in systems-level languages such as Rust, C, C++, or Java
