01Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to produce an industry-leading vector database offering
02Contribute to Elasticsearch full time, building new search features and fixing bugs
03Invent or implement new algorithms or data structures
04Work close to the operating system and hardware
05Work with a globally distributed team on the vector search capabilities of Elasticsearch
06Be an expert on how Elasticsearch implements vector similarity
07Improve the vector similarity area based on questions and instincts
08Work with community members on issues and pull requests
09Write idiomatic modern Java

01Implemented novel techniques in vector similarity on a search platform with a large user base or progressed academic research in vector similarity information retrieval
02Professional experience with vector similarity and vector databases, using HNSW, IVF, or other relevant algorithms and libraries at scale
03Strong skills in core Java and conversant in its standard library
04Work with a high level of autonomy, taking on projects from beginning to end, covering technical design and collaboration
05Comfortable developing collaboratively, giving and receiving feedback
06Used several data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
07Excellent verbal and written communication skills
08Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development, debug systems, and optimize code
09Ability to collaborate across functions and teams and transition between projects based on priorities
10Work autonomously and drive decisions in a distributed team using asynchronous communication
