Обязанности
- 01Own a platform-spanning area of the developer lifecycle end to end, framing problems, building measurements, driving roadmaps with partner teams, and growing engineers.
- 02Set technical direction for the Service Tools team rather than only delivering against it.
- 03Own multi-quarter workstreams such as agentic developer workflows, intelligent build infrastructure, test excellence, codebase modernization, or developer observability.
- 04Advance the AI-assisted development platform: develop agent skills and tool integrations, create evaluation harnesses, and provide telemetry on human intervention points.
- 05Scale build and merge infrastructure for a large JVM monorepo, focusing on Bazel, remote build execution and caching, merge-queue throughput, test sharding and selection, and capacity modeling.
- 06Raise the floor on testing through coverage, mutation signal, AI-authored tests, faster local and pre-merge feedback, and testing contracts.
- 07Lead large-scale codebase modernization (JDK and Kotlin toolchain upgrades, test-framework migrations, build-module migrations) via automated refactoring.
- 08Turn developer and production telemetry into decisions by quantifying time, spend, and confidence loss and adjusting priorities.
- 09Set standards by example through code and architecture reviews, design docs, incident reviews and postmortems, and anticipate reliability issues.
- 10Help shape technical strategy that impacts core metrics (Developer Experience, Developer Velocity, Debuggability, Resilience, Reliability) while reducing cost.
- 11Mentor and grow engineers on the team in partnership with the engineering manager.
- 12Partner with engineering leaders across Airbnb orgs to drive adoption of new capabilities.
- 13Represent the team’s work externally via tech blog posts, conference talks, open source contributions, and vendor partnerships.
Требования
- 019+ years of industry experience with a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or 6+ years with a PhD.
- 02Bachelor's and/or Master's degree preferably in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 03Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages (Java, Kotlin, Ruby, Go, C++, etc.).
- 04Experience with architectural patterns of high-scale distributed products/services, such as well-designed APIs, data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
- 05Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across teams and functions outside your own reporting line.
- 06Experience or desire to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product, and data science partners.
- 07Track record of owning platform or infrastructure areas end to end, setting a technical agenda, aligning partner teams, and delivering over multiple quarters.
- 08Deep hands-on experience with build systems and large monorepos; Bazel and remote build execution experience is a strong plus.
- 09Extensive JVM experience (Java and/or Kotlin), including performance, memory, and startup behavior of large builds and test suites.
- 10Fluency with the modern AI-assisted development stack — coding agents, skills and context engineering, tool integrations, and rigorous evaluation of agent quality.
- 11Measurement instinct: using data to size problems and prove fixes, skeptical of metrics that flatter the team.
- 12Comfort tackling large, open-ended, ambiguous scope and deciding what should exist rather than waiting for a spec.
- 13Ability to raise the level of engineers around you through code reviews, architecture discussions, mentorship, and clear writing.
- 14Treat operational excellence and technical debt as first‑class roadmap items rather than afterthoughts.
