Responsibilities

  • 01Build Abridge’s privacy program, providing practical, product-focused counseling to the Security, Product and Engineering teams
  • 02Advise teams on privacy laws related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, clinical data, product development, secondary use of data and the responsible use of sensitive information
  • 03Help develop, maintain, and scale global privacy programs
  • 04Support data sharing and ecosystem questions (first/third-party, vendors, partners, internal platform services), including governance and contractual expectations in partnership with commercial counsel
  • 05Monitor and respond to changes in privacy laws and regulations, including AI regulations
  • 06Draft, maintain, and operationalize privacy policies, playbooks, templates, governance standards, and training materials that promote awareness and consistent decision-making across the company
  • 07Work cross functionally with talented product and engineering teams in evaluating the impact of privacy and data protection laws and regulatory guidance on exciting product developments

Requirements

  • 01Have 10+ years of experience with a mix of in-house, health tech, or technology-focused law firm roles
  • 02Experience building, developing, advising, and evaluating programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments
  • 03Knowledge of HIPAA and other healthcare privacy requirements, as well as CCPA/CPRA, biometric privacy laws, and applicable U.S. state privacy and data security frameworks
  • 04A practical, risk-based approach and the ability to balance legal, regulatory, business, and customer considerations
  • 05Strong business judgment and the ability to work independently in an environment that values autonomy, accountability, and trust
  • 06Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, actionable guidance for technical and nontechnical audiences
  • 07Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple high-priority matters in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
  • 08A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
  • 09Strong preference for prior experience on healthcare or health tech
  • 10Familiarity with recent trends in the intersection of privacy regulations and artificial intelligence
  • 11IAPP CIPP certification
