Responsibilities
- 01Serve as product counsel, partnering across the founding members of our life sciences team including product, engineering and strategy to support product design, development, and deployment
- 02Support go to market activities, including drafting and negotiating agreements and advising on contracting strategy
- 03Drive zero-to-one development of Abridge's Life Sciences legal strategy and guardrails
- 04Provide actionable legal guidance on regulatory, privacy, and compliance matters, including HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, and the evolving AI/ML landscape
- 05Advise on healthcare regulatory compliance, including FDA, FTC, fraud and abuse (FCA, AKS), and related state laws
- 06Partner with other cross-functional teams including policy, partner experience, marketing, IT, finance, corporate development, and commercial to ensure alignment and mitigate risk
- 07Support privacy impact assessments, compliance risk assessments, and data governance efforts and frameworks
- 08Coordinate with external counsel to resolve specialist issues and ensure fast delivery of actionable legal guidance and risk analysis
- 09Monitor emerging regulations around AI, data use, and healthcare technology and advise internal stakeholders on their implications
Requirements
- 0110+ years of legal experience, including 2+ years in a dedicated life sciences role
- 02Passion for Abridge’s mission and the energy and drive to support a fast-moving product and operational teams
- 03Strong understanding of and experience with pharmaceutical / biotech products and solutions
- 04Proven ability to communicate and translate complex regulatory and legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for non-legal counterparts and colleagues
- 05Comfort and confidence with juggling a high volume of projects, tight timelines, and competing priorities
- 06Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise business judgement; interest in joining a small team that prioritizes autonomy and trust
- 07Proven ability to work cross-functionally, particularly with technical teams, designers, and commercial teams, building relationships and earning their confidence
- 08Creativity in solving and navigating novel legal matters; experience in crafting new processes and language to meet the needs of a rapidly-moving enterprise in a novel industry
- 09Familiarity with recent trends in artificial intelligence, particularly with large language models and responsible AI principles
- 10Candidates must be willing to work from our SF or NY office 3x per week (M/W/F)
