Responsibilities
- 01Architect, build, and maintain robust APIs, services, and systems across engineering teams using Ruby and Java
- 02Act as a domain expert of the payments family of Stripe products, and in particular various payout methods and underlying rails used in US / UK
- 03Build and enhance software infrastructure, encompassing the complete development lifecycle from coding to testing, deployment, debugging, and maintenance
- 04Design software systems leveraging scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure design outcomes
- 05Contribute to core interface design and write code
- 06Serve as a role model for how great software should be written
- 07Contribute code changes in every layer of the stack, from launching a net new payout method API to making a UI change in the Stripe Dashboard for the Stripe Connect product
- 08Scope and lead technical projects, laying the groundwork for early-stage products to iteratively evolve and scale
- 09Engineer payments integration with banking partners to launch new markets, payout methods, and capabilities, while ensuring reliability and scalability
- 10Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale
- 11Design and implement secure systems for sensitive data storage
- 12Work with engineers across the company to understand when existing infrastructure can be leveraged vs. when building a bespoke solution is necessary
- 13Evaluate and make informed decisions about technology and architecture choices in developing payment products
- 14Develop and execute short- and long-term roadmaps, making informed trade-offs to balance business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
- 15Ensure technical decisions align with broader strategic goals while addressing specific emerging business needs
- 16Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation to ensure reliability
- 17Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota to manage and resolve production incidents affecting users
Requirements
- 01Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field followed by 2 years of experience in Software Development
- 022 years of experience with Building software solutions in Python, Ruby, Java and Typescript languages
- 032 years of experience with Designing, building and working with large user-facing APIs
- 042 years of experience with Translating business needs into software requirements and designs
- 052 years of experience with Debugging production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
- 062 years of experience with Designing, building, and maintaining scalable, high availability systems
- 072 years of experience with Designing and implementing secure systems for sensitive data storage
