Responsibilities
- 01Research emerging techniques in retrieval, reasoning, and agentic AI
- 02Prototype new ideas quickly and turn them into production-grade features
- 03Define technical direction that spans multiple teams within Fivetran AI
- 04Build and maintain both back-end and front-end systems for the Fivetran AI product
- 05Drive the AISQL capability forward: natural language to SQL grounded in dbt metric definitions
- 06Take ownership of production reliability across the platform: on-call rotation, incident response, and SRE work
- 07Set the bar for testing and QA practices, and do hands-on QA work
- 08Use coding agents to automate repetitive parts of the job
- 09Take high-level direction and independently define and execute concrete plans
- 10Mentor other engineers and raise the technical bar
Requirements
- 01Staff R&D Software Engineer level expertise
- 02Ability to research emerging AI techniques and make product decisions
- 03Willingness to wear multiple hats: prototyping, backend development, frontend work, SRE, QA
- 04Ability to define technical direction that other teams build on
- 05High degree of independence in turning direction into concrete plans
- 06Sound judgment to decide what deserves attention
- 07Thrive on range and ambiguity rather than staying in one lane
