Responsibilities
- 01Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to produce an industry-leading vector database offering
- 02Contribute to Elasticsearch full time, building new search features and fixing bugs
- 03Invent new algorithms or data structures
- 04Work close to the operating system and hardware
- 05Work with globally distributed team on vector search capabilities
- 06Be an expert on Elasticsearch vector similarity implementation
- 07Work with community members on issues and pull requests
- 08Write idiomatic modern Java
Requirements
- 01Implemented novel techniques in vector similarity on search platforms with large user base
- 02Professional experience with vector similarity and vector databases
- 03Experience with HNSW, IVF or other relevant algorithms and libraries at scale
- 04Strong skills in core Java and standard library data structures
- 05Ability to work with high level of autonomy and guide projects from beginning to end
- 06Comfortable with collaborative development and giving/receiving feedback
- 07Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra
- 08Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 09Proven track record of using AI to accelerate development, debug systems, and optimize code
- 10Ability to collaborate across functions and teams
- 11Work autonomously and drive decisions in distributed teams
