Responsibilities
- 01Own civil and site design for the battery storage plant: pads, foundations, grading, drainage, access roads, fire lanes, and equipment yards coordinated with electrical collection and NFPA 855 spacing.
- 02Support the fire and life-safety case with civil provisions: water supply, hydrant layout, deflagration venting clearances, and emergency vehicle access for AHJ review.
- 03Coordinate seismic and severe-weather (tornado/high-wind) structural design basis for storage blocks, transformers, and equipment supports with structural engineering.
- 04Produce issued-for-construction civil packages: site plans, including site plans, sections, details, specifications, and bid support.
- 05Resolve field RFIs, submittals, and installation quality issues during construction of the storage yard.
- 06Coordinate underground electrical duct banks, oil containment, and grounding grid civil interfaces with Design and Ops/Build engineers.
- 07Maintain as-built civil records for the storage plant.
Requirements
- 01Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or another engineering discipline.
- 023+ years of civil or structural design experience on industrial, energy, or data center sites.
- 03Professional Engineering license or intention to actively seek a PE license.
- 04NFPA 855 or energy-storage site civil experience.
- 05Experience with seismic qualification and severe-weather hardening of outdoor electrical equipment.
- 06AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent site-design software experience.
- 07Experience coordinating civil packages with medium-voltage collection and fire-protection design.
- 08Experience defending a design to an authority having jurisdiction.
