Responsibilities
- 01Management of our physical Metal environment from bare metal to Kubernetes
- 02Management of cluster networking components: load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing protocols, architecture
- 03Management of scheduling and autoscaling
- 04Maintaining Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules for CSP resources common to our users
- 05Management of versioning and compatibility for Crossplane and Terraform core as well as providers
- 06Work with Grafana Cloud application teams to understand their needs and ensure investment in the right capabilities
- 07Provide a Kubernetes control plane and underlying resources outside public cloud to the rest of Engineering
Requirements
- 01Enjoy working with engineers and management structures to support and enable the team
- 02Comfortable working in a remote-first company; communication is key
- 03Collaborative, friendly, kind, and respectful; operate by consensus
- 04Eager to learn and grow
- 05Approach development holistically, owning the full lifecycle from design docs to feedback and integration testing, balancing big picture and details
- 06Experience operating code with both operator and developer perspectives
- 07Datacenter experience
- 08Participation in an on-call rotation
- 09Experience with Go, Python, and Shell
- 10Experience with Cluster-API, Tinkerbell, Talos, and/or Ceph (bonus)
- 11Experience working in or on open source or community-based projects
- 12Experience with a few CSPs (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their managed Kubernetes services (EKS, GKE, AKS)
- 13Experience operating and managing workloads on Kubernetes
- 14Familiarity with Kubernetes scheduling and projects like Karpenter
- 15Experience with Terraform and/or Crossplane
- 16Enjoys programming in Go
