Responsibilities
- 01Design widely-used APIs, frameworks, and abstractions that other engineers and researchers build on
- 02Embed with research teams on a rotational basis to understand their engineering needs and build supporting systems
- 03Work directly in research codebases, improving reliability and structure
- 04Anticipate silent failure modes and prevent them structurally through type safety and testing
- 05Contribute to the reliability of production RL systems, including monitoring and triage tooling
- 06Help define engineering standards, review practices, and design patterns for a new team
- 07Mentor researchers and engineers in adopting engineering standards
Requirements
- 01Deep expertise in Python, including static typing, safe async and concurrency patterns
- 02A track record of designing intuitive, safe APIs or frameworks adopted by other teams
- 03Experience working productively in large, evolving, or research-style codebases
- 04Demonstrated ability to anticipate failure modes and prevent them through system design
- 05Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 06Comfort with ambiguity and ability to scope work from loosely defined problems
- 07Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
What we offer
- 01Annual Salary: $405,000 — $625,000 USD
